Arden - Skyland

Years ago, predictions held that one day Asheville and Hendersonville would grow together. Well, maybe, but Arden and Skyland have embraced the sprawl between the two and is the area of greatest growth in South Buncombe County. (Some of the locals used to quip that it is known as L.A., that is Lower Asheville.)

Home to Arden, Skyland, Royal Pines, Avery's Creek, Biltmore Town Square, The Ramble and many other neighborhoods, the community is vibrant with schools, churches, parks, shopping, and easy access to a booming downtown in either direction. Travel north to Asheville or south to Hendersonville and you find many attractive shops, activities, and other spots to keep you busy and entertained. Abundant senior services, health resources, and fitness venues will keep you busy as well.

Easy river access to the French Broad River put fishing within easy reach after work or any other day. And, not just fishing, but enjoy your paddle board, kayak, or inner tube on the river. One of Buncombe County''s largest parks spans the north side of Duke Power's Lake Julian. Bring the kiddos to feed the ducks (duck food, leave the bread at home), the playground, or bring your picnic.

The community has its own busy branch library next door to the award winning schools in the district, T.C. Roberson High School, Koontz Intermediate, and Estes Elementary. Other public, private, parochial, and charter schools make your school choices abundant and varied.
